Yes, Keltec Thunder on Cocoa Beach IS Happening — Despite the Rumors
Cocoa Beach, FL — Contrary to chatter sparked by a recent shake-up among national powerboat sanctioning bodies, Keltec Thunder on Cocoa Beach is moving full steam ahead as scheduled by our local race committee. While Race World Offshore and Professional Racing Offshore recently parted ways with the APBA* making headlines and stirring drama on the national scene— the Thunder on Cocoa Beach Offshore Board remains firmly in place, and our four-day spectacle on May 15-18, 2025 is 100% go.
“We understand the headlines around the APBA split have caused confusion,” said Kerry Bartlett, Keltec Thunder on Cocoa Beach Race Director. “Just as the golf world weathered its own LIV-fueled fracture and kept swinging, we’re unfazed by the headlines. Let us be crystal clear: those changes have absolutely zero impact on Keltec Thunder on Cocoa Beach. Our event plans are solid, the boats have confirmed their intention to race, and the only thing canceled is your excuse not to be here.”
That APBA departure did generate some false whispers that Thunder might be called off—rumors that put unnecessary stress on the hardworking local volunteers, sponsors, and crews who pour their hearts into this event each year. But don’t believe the hype—believe the horsepower.
Stay tuned to our official channels for the latest schedules, competitor line-ups, and behind-the-scenes action. We’ll see you on the sand—engine roar guaranteed.
