About
ABout Thunder On Cocoa Beach
Thunder on Cocoa Beach has grown into one of the premier offshore powerboat racing events in the country, bringing together world-class competition, passionate fans, and a vibrant coastal community.
What began over a decade ago as a grassroots effort by a group of dedicated local leaders has evolved into a multi-day experience that celebrates speed, innovation, and the spirit of offshore racing. Throughout its history, the event has remained deeply rooted in community impact—supporting local charities, engaging volunteers, and contributing to the economic and cultural energy of Brevard County.
Now under the leadership of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA), Thunder on Cocoa Beach enters a new era of growth and opportunity. With IHRA’s national platform and racer-first approach, the event will continue to expand its reach, enhance the fan experience, and elevate the level of competition on the water.
Environmental stewardship remains a core priority. Working alongside local organizations, the event continues to implement protective measures for Cocoa Beach’s unique coastal ecosystem, including ongoing efforts to preserve sea turtle habitats.
Thunder on Cocoa Beach is more than a race—it’s a destination event that blends high-performance offshore racing with community, entertainment, and a commitment to making a lasting impact.
